About
J.M. Vaughan
From as far back as I can remember, all I've wanted to do was tell stories.

At first, that storytelling took the form of make believe with my stuffed animals and LEGO characters. As I got older, I began to write novels and make LEGO comics which I posted on internet forums. Then, in 2005, I discovered the art of Brickfilming, stop-motion animation using LEGO bricks. For the next ten years, I spent most of my free time making Brickfilms. You can still find them on my YouTube channel, where I have over four million views. I launched a successful Kickstarter for my largest project, Melting Point, and was even featured in the documentary A LEGO Brickumentary, co-directed by Academy Award winner Daniel Junge.

During this time, I also attended film school at Chapman University in southern California, with the intent of becoming a film director. However, while there, I discovered that, in practicality, the filmamking process is wrought with logistical challenges that, for me, hindered the creative process. I wanted to be telling stories, not spending days, weeks, or months finding funding, casting, and managing people and resources. So in 2015, I made the decision to shift my creative efforts back to novel writing. In 2017, I self-published my first novel Worldwielder. Since then, I've been hard at work on various projects, which you can read about on the Books page.

I also occasionally write music and create digital art.
